If you are attending in person:

Please arrive by 7:00 a.m. so that we can check you in and you can grab breakfast before starting at 7:30 a.m. Our schedule is tight, and we must start promptly. 

There will be a session going on during lunch. We will provide you with lunch and we will also provide you with snacks throughout the day. Indicate any food allergies on the registration form.

You will receive a paper copy of the schedule and a seminar bag upon arrival.

If you are attending online: 

See the attached program. The first two sessions will be ethics, and then we will go into a breakout room for software training.  It is important that you click the correct link for the session you want to attend. You can find the room name under the session on your program which will match up with the link provided below. 

You don't have to have your software up or your machine hooked up, but if you want to get the most out of the software sessions, our presenters recommend that you do.

**You WILL NOT receive credit if you do not answer one poll question for the 1-hour sessions and two questions for the 1.5-hour sessions. There are no exceptions.**

Please contact BCCRA to request a refund. Cancellation Policy: Cancellations must be received in writing no later than September 25th, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. A cancellation fee of 20% per registration will be charged. After September 25th, no refunds will be given.

“Confidence is KEY!”

Presenter: Kim Xavier, CSR, TCRR, TMR, Texas CART Provider

This 90-minute interactive confidence-building workshop facilitated by Kim Xavier will explore the many ways court reporters can use “Knowledge, Excellence, and Yes” to increase professional confidence. This session will include a review and take-home resources for rules and statutes that every Texas court reporter should know. Attendees will participate in exercises and scenarios that will not only highlight the need to be knowledgeable of guidelines but the interactive activities will encourage immediate implementation of recommended strategies to perform with confidence and excellence. In addition, this session will demonstrate how saying “Yes” to rest will assist in learning, retaining, and implementing in all areas of our profession.

“Protecting the Record with Confidence and Clarity"

What is your top tool to outpace technology? To protect the record with clarity and confidence, as only a human can. Keith Scott and Rebecca Klein of TALLsmall Productions will show us how to up our communications game and to stay calm in a communication storm. In this virtual, highly interactive workshop, learn how to: Protect the Record with Confidence: We'll reveal the top words and phrases to use and avoid when protecting the record. Learn common pitfalls and how to make sure you rise above them. Read the Room: Body language is 70% of communication. Leave with strategies to showcase your best self and to pick up on signals from others. Control your Self Talk: When your inner critic pipes up at the wrong moment, gain hacks for keeping it at bay.

In this presentation, you will learn about colloquy and by-lines, when they are used, how to insert them, and how to search for locations where a by-line may be missing in the transcript. Plus, you will learn about formatting and how to access by-lines options.

This training will allow the participants to understand how to launch automatic indexing, create include files and create blanks. The trainer will share the top shortcuts that she uses that can improve the skill of editing and save time editing. Learning how to use the phonetics table will improve translation, which will cut down on editing time. As the participants learn and implement these skills, they will gain a new confidence and will be ready to learn the advanced level of Automatic Indexing.

Learning these tips and tricks and how to apply them in daily work will greatly improve realtime skills.

Court Reporter Burnout”

Join Dina as she discusses the definition and prevalence of collateral burnout, how to recognize it and ways in which it negatively impacts on the lives of people who work in our field, i.e., High Conflict Family Law. (That is an oxymoron if I ever heard one.) Ways to minimize the impact of secondary trauma and insulate oneself from the effects also will be addressed.
